Finland’s cleanest moving services – 100% of the Niemi fleet runs on non-fossil fuel

We will offer our customers the cleanest way to move by introducing the Finnish Neste MY Renewable Diesel, produced entirely from waste and residues, in all our diesel vehicles and by giving up the use of fossil fuels. After this change, the greenhouse gas emissions produced by our customers’ moves will be reduced by up to 90%.

Niemi carries out approximately 35,000 moves every year. Most of the emissions related to moving services are produced by the actual transportation, which for Niemi amounts to about three million kilometres each year. In terms of greenhouse gas emissions, this is about 2.1 million kilogrammes of emissions. The emission reductions achieved by replacing fossil fuels with renewable alternatives are equivalent to the total annual emissions from about 700 passenger cars.

“In 2016, we were the first Finnish company to introduce moving vehicles that run on renewable Finnish biogas. Currently, 20% of our vehicles run on biogas,” Director Juha Niemi says. “We will pursue our corporate responsibility strategy further as we start using Neste MY Renewable Diesel in our diesel vehicles.”

“We will also introduce the Neste Oma Asema service at our logistics centre in Helsinki. This will eliminate unnecessary driving and emissions in connection with refuelling,” Juha Niemi says.
