The complete checklist for a smooth move
A well-planned move reduces stress and ensures that everything goes smoothly. We’ve put together a comprehensive moving checklist to help you prepare for your move step by step – from the initial plans to the tasks you’ll need to do after moving day.

One month before the move:
Assess the need for moving assistance and book the necessary services in good time. You can order moving services, storage space and moving supplies from us. Our storage facilities are warm and secure, and fees are based on space requirements and time spent.
Two weeks before the move:
Make a move notification to the Post Office: www.posti.fi/muuttoilmoitus. You must notify the Post Office of your move at least one month before and no later than one week after the move.
Start going through your belongings and get rid of the unnecessary. Also go through your storage and other storage facilities.
Rent or buy moving boxes and packing supplies from our online store. You will need about one box per square metre of living space. Good quality, durable moving boxes will speed up your move and protect your belongings during transport.
One week before the move:
Pre-pack everything you won’t need before moving day.
Make clear markings on moving boxes and furniture. Moving labels make it easier to sort things and find the right room.
Protect breakable items such as mirrors, paintings and dishes with bubble wrap or silk paper. Conveniently protect your flat-screen TV in a flat-screen box.
Take apart and protect large pieces of furniture, such as large cupboards and tables.
Pack personal items such as keys, toiletries and important documents in a priority box.
Protect sofas, mattresses and armchairs with protective bags, protective plastic, or hand-curtains. It’s easy to move your clothes in clothing boxes.

A couple of days before the move:
Clean your new home or make sure it has been cleaned.
Protect moving routes with floor protection cardboard.
Make sure there is unobstructed access for the moving truck and, if necessary, reserve a parking space for the move.
On the day of your move:
Leave the instructions and keys of the old apartment with the new tenant or the property manager.
Check the smoke alarms in the new apartment.
Let electrical appliances warm up to room temperature before use if you move in during the cold season.
After the move:
Clean your old home thoroughly or order a final clean. Final cleaning is deductible.
Empty the moving boxes by the agreed return date.
Remove all packing tape and other protective materials from the furniture.
Give feedback on our service in the customer satisfaction survey.
