Tips for Corporate Moving

Moving is a big and often a challenging process, but it gets easier with professional help, good planning and teamwork.

It is essential to create a comprehensive timetable that considers all stages of the move, including packing, transportation, and setting up the new premises. Effective teamwork and clear communication will streamline the process and help everyone settle into the new environment. Your company will be supported by a Niemi Project Manager, who will oversee the move and make sure that everything stays on track.

Well-prepared packing speeds up the move

Well-packed, stackable moving boxes and rolls are easier and faster to load and unload. Items can be packed more tightly, which can save space in the moving truck or in storage. This can also reduce transport costs.

Careful labelling speeds up unpacking by knowing immediately where each box is going.

Good packaging also protects goods from damage.

Emptying storage facilities

Be sure to check all storage facilities at the company’s old address before moving. Recycle any excess goods. Also make sure there is enough space at the new address.

If necessary, you can also rent more storage space from us.

Contact person designated for the move

Your company’s contact person coordinates all aspects of the company’s relocation project together with the Niemi Project Manager for the Move.

The contact person acts as a link and information hub between the moving company and your own staff, ensuring clear and smooth communication during the moving process. This reduces misunderstandings and ensures that all parties are kept informed at all stages of the move.

Numbering of rooms/workstations in new premises

In a prominent place, e.g. in the entrance hall of new premises, post a floor map showing the locations of furniture, numbered workstations and other important information.

The floor map will help the moving team to easily move furniture and boxes into the right places.

Protection of floors and passageways

The pathways (floors, door frames, lifts) should be carefully protected against possible dents. Protective surfaces can also make it easier to clean up after the move.

The protection can be purchased from us as a service.

Unhindered access to locations

Make sure that there is parking space for the moving truck near the door at both the old and new address. Unhindered access to the moving location will greatly speed up the move.

Unhindered access routes within the moving area make it easier to move larger and heavier items. They also contribute to occupational safety by reducing the risk of accidents.

Keys and access rights

Ensure that the moving team has unhindered access to the moving site and that all necessary keys and access rights are available throughout the move.

If keys and access rights cannot be given to the moving team, make sure that there is someone from the company to open the doors throughout the moving project.

Security

Ensure the additional security needs of the moving locations.

During the move, the doors of the premises will be open while moving items to and from the moving truck. The driver of the moving truck will ensure the safety of the cargo near the truck.
