Company move: Packing instructions for the personnel
A well-planned move makes the transition to new premises a pleasant experience. Packing instructions will help you prepare for your business move.
If you have any questions about moving schedules or need further advice on packing or protection, please contact your company’s dedicated moving contact. He or she will be your direct link to Niemi.
Best wishes for your new space and enjoyable work days!
Packing loose office items from the workstation
Pack your loose items from your workstation into moving boxes and label the boxes with a moving sticker. Remember to check your desk drawers, cabinets, and shelves.
Label the furniture that will be moved to the new premises with a moving sticker. Leave cabinets and drawers unlocked. Niemen’s movers will prepare them for transport and tape the key to the inside of the door or drawer unit.
Sort and take all unnecessary items, such as unnecessary papers, data protection material, and electrical and electronic waste (SER), to the recycling point provided by Niemi.
Packing of IT equipment
Label the monitors and docking station with moving labels. Disconnect all cables and pack them, along with the mouse and keyboard, neatly into a moving box. Leave the monitors and docking station labeled on your desk.
Niemi’s team of professionals will pack all IT equipment into moving cabinets, which will be transported to the new address.
Also label the printers with moving labels. We will transport small printers in moving cabinets and larger ones separately.
Packing of fragile or large objects
Carefully protect fragile items, such as kitchenware, with suitable packing materials and pack them tightly into moving boxes.
Label the moving box with a sticker and tape the word “FRAGILE” to both ends of the box.
You can pack large items in a moving box or rolling container. If they extend beyond the edges of the moving box, you can leave the boxes on the floor next to each other.
Roll containers are convenient for packing cardboard boxes, pictures, screens, and other small items that do not fit in moving boxes or are too heavy to carry in them.
Mark the goods with removal stickers
Mark each item to be moved with a Niemi moving sticker. Write the “address” of the goods on the sticker, i.e. the number of the workstation to which the goods will be moved in the new premises, the floor and your own name, e.g. “Workstation 45, 5th floor, Mary Mover”.
Also mark the furniture to be moved to the new premises with a moving sticker.
Remove moving labels as soon as possible after moving so that no traces of tape remain on furniture, for example.
What to consider when packing a moving box
Fill the moving box only up to its openings. Pack loose papers in the bottom of the box or in plastic bags.
Flip the metal flaps of the box over the box before stacking.
Stack the packed boxes in piles of four so that boxes going into the same space are always in the same pile. Check that the labels on the boxes remain visible.
